ConnectSmart began Earth Month awareness by partnering with Rice University’s Earth Month Kick-Off Festival to promote the launch of the Rice carpool groups, which both students and staff on campus can join. ConnectSmart joined other booths from sustainable agencies on April 1st in their Grand Hall to engage with Rice Owls and show the many ways the ConnectSmart transportation app can help them commute to and from campus.
Rice’s Campus Services and Sustainability is looking forward to taking advantage of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting in the ConnectSmart Employer Commute Suite, as well as seeing how Owls taking sustainable modes of transportation reduce the overall carbon footprint during their commutes to the university.
Students were excited to learn about how they can use ConnectSmart to find a carpool match, plan their transit trip, or find available BCycles for rent on campus. Staff were also full of questions about our parking and safety features, like the no-cost towing service with Tow and Go™, incident, and flooding alerts to avoid impacted roads. We highlighted the most valuable features for college students and asked for insight from the Owls already using the app on how we can improve it. We can’t wait to see the Owls in action as they help make Houston less congested and more connected!
Owl or not, anyone can download the Houston ConnectSmart app on their Android or iPhone to check it out today.
